This is a nice trip at lower elevations (2800′ to 4000′) in the Owyhees. It is about a 40 mile round trip.
The Castle Creek overlooks are spectacular with the vertical rock canyon walls and running water in the bottom. Two of the overlooks are where some type of rock mining operation was conducted.
If you are lucky, California Bighorn Sheep may be spotted. Two small herds have been seen in this area. The ride is on BLM and State land except for the Brown’s Creek Cabin. Almost all of the private property in this area has locked gates.
If you ride in warmer weather, watch out for rattlesnakes!
