A beautiful 85ft tall cascade hiding in the Sampson Mountain Wilderness. The best time for viewing this fall would be late winter and early spring. This trail shares an estimated 1.3 miles of trail with Buckeye Falls and located in Cherokee National Forest.
Keep an eye out for horseback riders while driving to the trail head and while on that first 1.3 miles. When you complete that first 1.2-1.3 miles there will be a small camping area to the left. Behind that area there is a path leading through some laurels and if you look beyond the creek you will notice a trail. This is the trail that will lead to Chigger Branch. It can easily be overgrown in the warmer months with foliage.
Later in the hike the trail comes to a spot that seems to split. One goes up a hill and the other goes into the creek. Both eventually come out to the same spot. So it’s either a choice of wading up stream or staying dryer.
